Betty Stennett
Science Educator

Betty Stennett joined BSCS in 2004 as a curriculum developer for BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach. She has been involved in writing curriculum for all three levels of this program as well as several other curriculum projects. Betty also leads professional development for schools implementing BSCS curriculum and schools and districts committed to teaching science as inquiry and other research-based teaching practices. Betty’s current work at BSCS includes curriculum development and professional development for BSCS Middle School Science: An Inquiry Approach, Science Teachers Learning from Lesson Analysis (STeLLA), professional development for teachers in an IES funded efficacy trial for BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach, as well as various other curriculum and professional development projects.
Before joining BSCS, Betty worked for the Texas Rural Systemic Initiative as a Regional Science Specialist where she supported systemic reform for science teachers in K-12 schools in rural west Texas. She has 13 years teaching experience in both junior high and high school, teaching courses in multiple levels of Chemistry including Advanced Placement Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, Integrated Physics and Chemistry, Environmental Science and Earth Science.
Betty has a Master of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Science, a Master of Education Degree in Instructional Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Texas Tech University.
Betty lives in rural west Texas and works full time from home. While away from work, Betty enjoys reading, sewing, star gazing, and most importantly, spoiling her two grandchildren.
