Elizabeth Edmondson
Science Educator

Elizabeth Edmondson, Ph.D., joined BSCS in 2007 as a Science Educator with the Center for Professional Development.
Prior to joining BSCS, Elizabeth served as Assistant Professor in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at Clemson University. She taught courses for both undergraduate and graduate students and conducted research and published on enhancing elementary science teaching and learning via technology.
Before working at Clemson University, Elizabeth worked as a Science Specialist with one of thirteen regional centers for the South Carolina Statewide Systemic Initiative funded by NSF. She conducted professional development for K-12 teachers, key among these were Curriculum, Administrative, and Technology Leadership Institutes, and workshops on an SCSSI developed Data Analysis Toolkit. She coordinated the regional professional development for teachers and teacher leaders participating in the Science and Math to Go! Program, an elementary science kit program using NSF recognized exemplary curriculum materials.
She taught high school Biology and Chemistry for 9 years in North and South Carolina. During this time, she facilitated numerous institutes in South Carolina and nationally for teachers implementing the Applied Biology/Chemistry curriculum developed by CORD. She received her B.S. in Zoology from Duke University, a Masters of Arts in Science Education and a Masters in Marine Science from UNC Chapel Hill. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Clemson University in 2005.
