Meridith Bruozas joined BSCS in July 2008 as a Science Educator with the Center for Professional Development. She is currently developing and implementing professional development for BSCS programs and supporting the BSCS National Academy for Curriculum Leadership.

Prior to joining BSCS, Meridith was an Associate Director of the Geographic Data in Education (GEODE) Initiative at Northwestern University. She has extensive experience in designing and implementing middle and high school inquiry-based science curriculum and is an expert on developing and leading teacher professional development.

Meridith has experience in both formal education and informal education. Prior to her work at Northwestern University, she worked with thousands of school children and teachers at the John G. Shedd Aquarium where she designed and implemented a variety of programs on conservation of marine and aquatic ecosystems both on the exhibit floor and in classrooms around the Chicago area. She is also an experienced high school classroom teacher, where she taught physical science, Earth science and biology to 9th and 10th graders.

Her multiple roles as a teacher educator, researcher, curriculum developer, classroom coach and teacher give her a unique view on how schools and teachers can successfully implement inquiry-based programs.

Meridith’s publications include several curriculum resources for the K-12 classroom and numerous professional presentations and research articles. She holds a Master of Arts in Learning Sciences from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Secondary Education from Ball State University.
