Susan Rust
Director of Communications

Susan Rust joined BSCS in September 2000 as a writer/editor/photographer with The SCI Center. In 2003, she became BSCS Communications Manager, in 2006 she became Director of Web Communications, and in 2008 Director of Communications. Her work includes responsibility for the BSCS Web site, eCommerce, the Annual Report, marketing and promotion materials and dissemination, the quarterly BSCS e-Letter, and corporate communications. Rust photographs BSCS seminars, workshops, academies, and presentations for use in print and electronic materials throughout the organization.
A journalist for 14 years before joining BSCS, Susan specialized in feature stories, humor columns, and news/feature photography. She has been published in numerous national magazines and statewide newspapers.
Prior to joining BSCS, Susan worked as managing editor of a health and fitness magazine, interim editor for a weekly newspaper, longtime newspaper reporter/photographer, and junior high school science and English teacher.
Susan has won 30 awards in writing and photography from both state and national press associations and professional writers’ organizations. |
