BSCS uses the most recent studies by eminent researchers to provide pertinent/relative professional development for teachers who wish to have their student learn science.
Thirty science education professionals from 20 U.S. states and Canada are taking part this week in the second of two AP Biology Leadership Academies hosted this summer by BSCS and NABT at BSCS headquarters in Colorado Springs. The first Academy was held in late June with 16 participants.
During the week, participants are focusing on the practices of science, the nature of the curriculum, teaching practices, assessment, and leadership.
The teachers will also participate in the NABT Professional Development Conference this fall. BSCS will continue to work with the teachers through an online component throughout the school year, and then reconvene for another weeklong institute in Colorado Springs next summer.
