BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach represents a new generation of instructional materials for high school science. The program introduces students to the core concepts in inquiry, the life science, the Earth and space science, and the physical science, as articulated in the National Science Education Standards. BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach provides high school students nationwide with a rigorous, coherent alternative to the traditional sequence of biology, chemistry, and physics.

This flexible curriculum can be individualized to suit particular teaching styles and unique classroom settings. An explicit instructional model, collaborative learning opportunities, ongoing assessment, optional activities, and a variety of educational technologies all can be used to adapt the curriculum to virtually any learning situation.

The framework for BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach presents a logical sequence of concepts through each year and across the years. In Levels 1 and 2, each of the core units includes three-four units that present you with the fundamental concepts in each of the disciplines. The last chapter in each core unit allows you to apply what you have learned so far in integrated settings that include at least two different disciplines, such as biology and physics. In Level 3, each unit comprises two or three chapters that develop the concepts in a coherent sequence and integrate the content where appropriate.
