BSCS ViSTA is a powerful, affordable, and quick-to-implement professional development online resource for K-8 teachers. The program is designed to be facilitated by a PD provider or facilitator and accounts for approximately 30 hours of teacher learning.

The hybrid model of BSCS ViSTA, designed for online and face-to-face learning, is flexible and can be used in variety of professional development contexts:

  • As a stand-alone course
  • As an online seminar with small groups of teachers
  • As a part of a professional development program supporting a large number of teachers across an entire school district

Professional Development for PD Providers

3-Day | 6-Day | 10-Day

BSCS is now offering professional development for PD providers who are facilitating BSCS ViSTA! Schedule BSCS ViSTA professional development for your PD providers now to see the power of BSCS ViSTA transform science teaching and learning in your school or district! Three options are currently available (3-, 6-, and, 10-day on-site programs).

 

3-DAY PD FOR PD PROVIDERS

This 3-day professional development program will introduce the BSCS ViSTA lenses, strategies, and lesson analysis protocol. During the 3-day on-site session, participants will

  • develop an understanding of BSCS ViSTA module organization,
  • develop an understanding of and use the ViSTA Lesson Analysis Protocol, and
  • develop an understanding of the Student Thinking and Science Content Storyline Lenses and be introduced to the strategies that make up each lens.

Cost: $9,000

Up to 30 participants with one BSCS ViSTA PD provider.

6-DAY PD FOR PD PROVIDERS

Designed to help PD providers effectively facilitate BSCS ViSTA PD sessions, this 6-day program will

  • deepen participants’ science content knowledge,
  • develop providers’ understanding of the BSCS ViSTA Science Content Storyline and Student Thinking Lens strategies, and
  • develop providers’ understanding of the ViSTA Lesson Analysis Protocol

The program will be divided into two 3-day on-site sessions.

Cost: $15,000

Up to 30 participants with one BSCS ViSTA PD provider.

10-DAY PD FOR PD PROVIDERS

The comprehensive 10-day program will help PD providers plan how to effectively integrate the BSCS ViSTA modules into a coherent professional development program. Divided into four on-site sessions, this program will

  • deepen providers’ science content knowledge,
  • develop providers’ understanding of the BSCS ViSTA Science Content Storyline and Student Thinking Lens strategies,
  • develop providers’ understanding of the ViSTA Lesson Analysis Protocol, and
  • build providers’ capacity to effectively facilitate ViSTA PD sessions.

Cost: 45,000

Up to 30 participants, with one BSCS ViSTA PD provider.
