2011 ESERA Conference

BSCS Executive Director Janet Carlson and BSCS Board Member Julie Gess-Newsome will be co-presenting at the biennial European Science Education Research Association (ESERA) Conference. The topic of the session is titled, "Conceptions of Pedagogical Content Knowledge." Additionally, Dr. Gess-Newsome will speak on “Convergences and Divergences in the Conceptualizations of Pedagogical Content Knowledge.” Both presentations will take place during the symposium session titled, “Different Models and Methods to Measure Teachers' Pedagogical Content Knowledge.”

Three mentors from the Sandra K. Abell Institute for Doctoral Students will also be presenting at the 2011 ESERA Conference. They are Julie Luft of Arizona State University, Scott McDonald of Pennsylvania State University, and Barbara Crawford of Cornell University.

The theme of the week-long ESERA conference is science learning and citizenship. ESERA is an organization seeking to enhance the range and quality of research and research training in science education in Europe.
