This curriculum allows students to ask questions, collaborate with peers, and carry out investigations. It also provides teachers with the tools to make biology interesting for students by integrating reading, discussing, experimenting, presenting, watching, calculating, and writing—there is something for every student.

Tetsuro Tanzawa is a professor and principal at Hamamatsu Junior High School in Japan. Following Tetsuro’s first visit to BSCS in 2008, interest grew among Japanese science educators regarding STEM education. While at BSCS, Tetsuro will study our perspective on the STEM education movement, what BSCS is doing to promote and facilitate STEM learning, current science education trends in the United States, and professional development and teacher education materials developed by BSCS.
