Because of the BSCS commitment to science education and the use of research, I have had many opportunities to reference materials and use the skills and knowledge gained to help my district and region build and sustain science reform efforts.
BSCS, Colorado Springs Science Center Project (CSSCP), Cool Science Inc., and The Center for STEM Education at UCCS are co-hosting the 2nd annual Colorado Springs Cool Science Festival. The festival opens on 15 October with the Science Carnival Day at UCCS. Residents and visitors of our region will be able to engage in informal science activities, events, seminars, tours, and general fun.
In addition to the full day carnival, the entire week will be filled with activities including a Science on Tap Pub Crawl (Tuesday, October 17th) and professional development for local teachers provided by BSCS Science Educators. Check back soon for a detailed schedule of events.
BSCS Executive Director Janet Carlson is a founding director of CSSCP, a collaborative, community-engaged initiative to build a science and technology center in Colorado Springs that stimulates and inspires the inquisitive mind.
