Many programs claim to be inquiry, but only BSCS provides the tools and training for teachers.
Motivation Project Advisory Board Meeting
BSCS will host its first Advisory Board meeting for the National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded project, Measuring Student Motivation in STEM. Scholars from the University of Michigan, Swarthmore College, James Madison University, and the University of Virginia will take part in the meeting, led by BSCS Science Educator and Principal Investigator Steve Getty. Other BSCS staff involved in the Motivation project include Co-PI and BSCS Director of Research and Development Joseph Taylor, Senior Associate Director Pam Van Scotter, Science Educator Chris Wilson, Research Associate Molly Stuhlsatz, and Project Coordinator Lisa Carey.
One of the goals of Measuring Student Motivation in STEM is to measure factors related to student motivation in science and math. Researchers will collect evidence for a new measure of student motivation from middle school to early college in parts of New England, Virginia, Colorado, and California.
