Science on Tap

Where:
Fine Arts Center, Colorado Springs
Mon, 08/13/2012 - 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Sam Gappmayer, President and CEO of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, will present "The Science In and Behind Art."

August’s Science on Tap will be held at the Fine Arts Center’s Deco Lounge to consider the point of nexus between science and art with a particular focus on the work of artist James Turrell currently featured at the Fine Arts Center. The evening will include a Sam Gappmayer-guided tour and discussion of Turell’s large installation piece, Trace Elements.

Science on Tap is sponsored by the Colorado Springs Science Center Project (CSSCP) as a community outreach program designed to gather audiences in a fun and casual environment to learn from local scientists about contemporary science topics.

BSCS Executive Director Janet Carlson is a founding director of CSSCP, a collaborative, community-engaged initiative to build a science and technology center in Colorado Springs that stimulates and inspires the inquisitive mind.
