Mon, 10/17/2011 - 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Dr. Don Veverka, Director of The Life Sciences Research Center at the United States Air Force Academy, will be the featured speaker at this month's event, sponsored by the Colorado Springs Science Center Project (CSSCP). Science on Tap is a community outreach program designed to gather audiences in a fun and casual environment to learn from local scientists about contemporary science topics. Dr. Veverka’s talk will be from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

The topic, “Algae to Biofuels: The Answer to America’s Gas Pains?” will answer how can this "green stuff" that grows in our swimming pools or our dog's water dish provide the answer to our nation's growing energy needs? Come find out what is happening in the algae to biofuels research community, how private companies, academic institutions, and our government are working to find solutions and when you might actually see "algae fuels" at the pump!
BSCS Executive Director Janet Carlson is a founding director of CSSCP, a collaborative, community-engaged initiative to build a science and technology center in Colorado Springs that stimulates and inspires the inquisitive mind.
