Science on Tap

Where:
Jack Quinn's Irish Pub, Colorado Springs
Mon, 03/12/2012 - 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Dr. Ron Furstenau will present "Energy Basics: 'Energy 102.'"

Dr. Ron Furstenau will discuss the significance of the numbers "100" and "2" in understanding our nation's energy supplies, demand, and future. What does the energy future look like for our society?  What is the role of each individual in determining that future? What concerns should we have about these energy sources? These questions (and more!) will be the framework for the "Science on Tap."

Dr. Ron Furstenau teaches chemistry at the USAF Academy and has been a speaker on energy issues since 1984. Ron received a B.S. degree from the USAF Academy in chemistry, a M.S. from the university of Nebraska in physical chemistry, and a PhD from Montana State University in chemistry. He has taught classes in general, analytical, environmental, space, and physical chemistry as well as rocket propulsion. His scientific interests include energy, rocket propulsion, and catalysts. He is also very active in science outreach activities for kids in the local area.

Science on Tap is sponsored by the Colorado Springs Science Center Project (CSSCP) as a community outreach program designed to gather audiences in a fun and casual environment to learn from local scientists about contemporary science topics.

BSCS Executive Director Janet Carlson is a founding director of CSSCP, a collaborative, community-engaged initiative to build a science and technology center in Colorado Springs that stimulates and inspires the inquisitive mind.
