My pedagogical skills have become more refined and much more student centered as a result of my association with BSCS and the field trial materials.
Science on Tap
Dr. Janet Carlson, BSCS Executive Director, will present "How People Learn Science."
Why is it easier to train a dog than to teach a child? Why can you remember some ideas and facts and completely forget others? There is a science to understanding how people learn. In this interactive conversation, you will explore the three key findings that the National Research Council has noted are essential for learning to take place. Understanding these findings will change how you think about teaching, curriculum materials, and learning in informal settings as well as in life in general.
Science on Tap is sponsored by the Colorado Springs Science Center Project (CSSCP) as a community outreach program designed to gather audiences in a fun and casual environment to learn from local scientists about contemporary science topics.
Dr. Carlson is a founding director of CSSCP, a collaborative, community-engaged initiative to build a science and technology center in Colorado Springs that stimulates and inspires the inquisitive mind.
