3rd Edition, Introductory College Biology;
Kendall/Hunt Publishing

Biological Perspectives, for students and faculty in introductory college biology courses, is a one-semester course designed to build students' biological literacy.

New in the 3rd edition!
One goal of the third edition of Teaching Tools (Instructor's Manual) is to provide college instructors with strategies to include student-centered learning activities in large classrooms. The lecture style format continues to predominate across college campuses in the United States, especially for introductory sciences courses.

The large lecture hall is a feasible and economic way to accommodate large numbers of students. Instructors who have used active learning methodology in their large classrooms have been rewarded by increasing both attitude toward science and science literacy among students.

We have incorporated many innovative ideas from recent literature where active, collaborative, and/or inquiry-based sessions were included in large classrooms.

Recommendations for introducing active learning strategies into large group instruction is discussed in Family 3: Group Approaches, Logistics of Large Classrooms and in selected activities in the Activity Collection.
