All of the project work conducted at BSCS is funded through grants and contracts. Our primary granting agencies include the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, and the National Institutes of Health. In addition, we have grants and contracts from numerous private foundations and school districts. A very small portion of our income (<5%) comes from royalties from the sales of our curriculum materials. Every year, 100% of the staff and members of the board of directors donate to the endowment. The board of directors and corporate officers have requested that donations to the endowment be invested in companies that promote green technologies, fair labor practices, human rights, environmental stewardship, and education.
The BSCS instructional materials are rich with a clean story line that my students find engaging. The professional development opportunities have moved the teachers in my department to a new level of understanding inquiry.
