BSCS
    Leadership Conference

Leadership conference, continued

Twenty-nine science education professionals representing six leadership teams from across the country came together at BSCS in September to take part in a three-day conference, “Leading the Way in Multidisciplinary Science.” The conference, hosted by the BSCS Center for Curriculum Development, focused on building leadership capacity for successfully implementing the new research-based science curriculum, BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach.

Specific goals of the conference included
  • supporting school leaders as they implement a new research-based science curriculum, specifically, BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach;
  • preparing teachers to teach a multidisciplinary program and overcome the challenge of teaching subjects that are out of their comfort zone;
  • introducing teachers and school leaders to the strategies used in the program that promote a culture of inquiry in the science classroom; and,
  • establishing a community of science leaders who are implementing BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach.
