Professional Development for BSCS Research Study: Measuring the Effectiveness of Curriculum Materials for High School Multidisciplinary Science
Where: Kent, Washington and Yakima, Washington
What: BSCS science educators will lead professional development with more than 60 teachers representing 22 schools across Washington state as part of a BSCS research study on multidisciplinary science curriculum materials in high school. The project, supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, is studying the effectiveness of BSCS Science: An Inquiry Approach, one of two programs recommended by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) for use in high school integrated science by virtue of its alignment with new Washington standards.

What: BSCS will participate in a conference co-hosted by NSTA, China Association of Children's Science Instructors, Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, Department I of Basic Education, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Children and Youth Science Centre, Science and Education Branch of the Chinese Society of Education, China Research Institute for Science Popularization, and Shanghai Science and Education Centre.
