In Human Genetic Variation, students discover how greater understanding of human genetic variation is leading to more specific and effective medical treatments. The inquiry-based activities involve students directly in building their knowledge of genetic variation and in analyzing ethical, legal, and social issues related to genomic data. Additionally, students learn to recognize the role of science in society and the relationship between basic science and personal and public health.
This curriculum supplement with CD-ROM was funded by the National Institutes of Health Office of Science Education (NIH OSE). It was developed by BSCS in cooperation with the National Human Genome Research Institute, part of the NIH, and Videodiscovery, Inc. of Seattle.
