Support BSCS

For 50 years BSCS has been a leader in science education and education reform. Through the work in our centers on curriculum, professional development, and research and evaluation, BSCS maintains a standard of excellence that is unparalleled. While much of our work continues to be funded through grants and contracts, it is essential that BSCS grow its endowment to ensure that our programs, research studies, and products continue to benefit many thousands of students, teachers, and schools. In the midst of the current economic downturn, it is vital to invest in our nation’s future. The school age population today is the most diverse ever in history, while the technological and scientific advances underpinning our economy create new challenges for designing an appropriate and effective approach to science education.

Through a concerted strategic planning effort, BSCS staff and Board of Directors have identified three critical areas in science education where BSCS will continue to lead:

Evolution
Scientific Inquiry
Effective Teaching and Learning

We have also chosen to develop four emerging areas of BSCS leadership because of their significance to the US educational system and economy:

Equity for All Learners
Technology-Enhanced Learning
Science and Society in the 21st century
Preservice Education and Induction
