Because of the BSCS commitment to science education and the use of research, I have had many opportunities to reference materials and use the skills and knowledge gained to help my district and region build and sustain science reform efforts.
Susan Rust joined BSCS as a Writer/Editor with The SCI Center in September 2000. She served as Communications Manager and Director of Web Communications before becoming Director of Communications in 2008. Her work includes responsibility for the BSCS website, eCommerce, corporate communications, and marketing and promotion materials and dissemination.
A journalist for 14 years before joining BSCS, Susan specialized in feature stories, humor columns, and news/feature photography. She has been published in numerous national magazines and statewide newspapers.
Prior to joining BSCS, Susan worked as managing editor of a health and fitness magazine, interim editor for a weekly newspaper, longtime newspaper reporter/photographer, and junior high school science and English teacher.
Susan earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has won 30 awards in writing and photography from both state and national press associations and professional writers’ organizations.
